Disability is the inability of a person to work due to debilitating physical or mental conditions that render them unable and helpless. Disability can be permanent or temporary from birth or a person’s environment. In the face of such hardships, a disabled person needs to check up on their social security benefits and claim their due share of financial support from the Government. Many conditions lead to hindering disabilities. Such situations lead to the necessity for Evaluating Claims.

What medical conditions are eligible to be considered as a disability?

Any disability that has lasted for 12 months or will last till the person’s death is aided and helped through evaluating claims. These conditions are listed below:

  • Any amputation
  • Heart diseases: myocardial infarction, hypertension, etc.
  • Schizophrenia
  • Degenerative Disc
  • Injury to the spine
  • Down syndrome
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Lupus
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Blindness
  • Parkinson’s Disease

These are to name a few.

What are the requirements to qualify for a disability claim?

  • If the claimant is ineligible to work or does part-time work with no substantial earnings to support themselves, they are immediately eligible for a disability claim.
  • There needs to be medical proof of debilitating conditions. If a person is rendered completely impaired and unable to do basic everyday tasks like sitting, standing, remembering, and functioning cognitively, they are eligible for disability. A medical record is necessary. A period of impairment lasting 12 months or more is also a required step to proceed.
  • For any claimant having a severe impairment that meets the conditions of a disability, they will immediately receive benefits.
  • In cases where someone does not meet the requirements for a listing grant, their service history will undergo evaluation, and their inability to perform anymore will be checked. After the evaluation of significant and relevant past jobs and impairment, disability benefits will get sanctioned immediately. Such makes it advantageous for older people who are disabled later in life.
  • The benefit of such claims is that the disability payment will continue to a deceased spouse – it will legally be going to the living spouse at a particular age range. Minor children with expired and disabled parents are also eligible for receiving their parents’ disabilities, thus providing additional help to family members who need them.

Every disabled person is entitled to contest their due claims while going through impairment. It is necessary that their journey is supported and their claims be looked into carefully.
